Stay in the Race
Everyday we face the opportunity of abandoning the path that the Lord has set for our lives. The Scripture plainly tells us in John 16:33 "...In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." The word tribulation means affliction, anguish, persecution, burden, trouble. None of us wake up in the morning claiming our "good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over" allotment of trouble for the day. We know that it will be insane to make such a request. Why? Because in case you are not aware, stuff happens! The Bible tells us in I Cor. 10:13 that " There hath no temptation (test, adversity or provocation) taken you but such as is common to man..."
Because of adversity there is always the risk of ending in the flesh what the Lord birthed in our spirits. Paul writes to the Galatian church in chapter 3 and verse 3 of the epistle addressed to them, "Are ye so foolish? having begun in the spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? And in chapter 5:7-8 the apostle reminds them, "Ye did run well; who did hinder you (or cut in front of you) that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not from him that calleth you."
We are responsible to obey the truth: the Word of God. To enjoy the benefits of what the Lord Jesus has purchased for us, we must live and walk in the light as He is in the light. He was and is that light that He was made to be in the Father. He never forsook his position, duty and call, but was faithful to the identity He had received from His Dad and was obedient until the end.
I plea with you today to be faithful and obedient to the Word of God and to the truth of what you have been made to be in Jesus. Our new nature has all the ingredients to pursue and attain what God has designed for our lives. Never abandon the truth of what we have been made in Him: more than conquerors!
